Welcome to Hungry Hollow Cafe, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Big Bay, Michigan. If you’re in the area and looking for a place to enjoy a hearty meal steeped in comfort and local charm, this cafe is your go-to spot. Tucked away at 9111 Co Rd 550, Hungry Hollow offers more than just food; it’s an experience that reflects the warmth of the community.

The cafe serves up an array of delightful breakfast and lunch options that celebrate traditional diner fare. One of the standout dishes is the Cinnamon French Toast, a sweet, fluffy treat that captures the essence of a cozy morning and keeps you coming back for more. For those who enjoy a hearty start to their day, the Southern omelette, praised by customers for being generously filled with sausage, is a flavor-packed choice that speaks volumes like Forkanbeans Baker noted in his glowing review.

The atmosphere at Hungry Hollow Cafe is relaxed and inviting, providing a friendly space where locals and travelers alike feel at home. With its charming decor and community vibe, it’s the perfect setting to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or a quick bite during your travels. Steven Holman echoes this sentiment by calling it the place for “excellent service” that’s highly recommended for a satisfying meal.

For a quick sideline snack, its selection from On The Side includes hot oatmeal, fresh bagels with cream cheese, and crispy hash browns—all items that contribute to a well-rounded meal tailored to kickstart your day. On a chilly Big Bay morning, you might find comfort in a cup of hot chocolate or fresh juice, both available to accompany your meal.

The reviews speak for themselves—Angela Burrow highlights the cafe's friendly, low-key service, making it a perfect place for those who want to unwind with a meal. There’s also a note worth mentioning for fish fry lovers; Michelle assures readers that the Friday fish fry, available from 3 PM to 8 PM, is a must-try and solidifies Hungry Hollow as a culinary staple in the area.

A visit to Hungry Hollow Cafe is more than just about food; it’s about connecting with the community and enjoying comforting meals surrounded by a friendly atmosphere. As Bob Zomermaand affectionately remarked, the waitress is a delight, making each visit feel personal and warm. If you find yourself in Big Bay, make sure to stop by this lovely little cafe — your taste buds will thank you!

I thought this place was awesome. Southern omelette stuffed with sausage and I don't mean just a couple of pieces, I mean stuffed And killer marble rye that was probably home made. I loved this place. Tons of atmosphere and a great server. If I didn't live 3 hours away, I'd go more often.

So.....when in Big Bay...and you want something to eat...this is one of three places to eat (Thunder Bay Inn and a Lumbermans bar) and the only one serving breakfast...this is a smaller diner...seating limited but never waited for a table...menu is typical for a small diner...portions adequate and prices fair (given recent unavoidable inflation)...Service has always been prompt...conveniently located across from beautiful Perkins Park...easy walk for family ...but beware...closes at 2pm every day except Friday when they stay open til 8 for a fish fry...

Great service and the food is very good. The portions are very generous for the price. Worth the trip to Big Bay which is about 25 miles from Marquette. Friday fish fry is from 3pm-8pm and a must!

Great little place for a meal. The food was prepared properly and in generous quantities. The waitress is a delight. We enjoyed it.
